About Sound Quality
Project Example
Human perception of sound is the original reason for measuring sound in the first place. Many of the measurement methods employed by the IT and CE industries do not take into account the end user when measuring their products. This is the primary reason for using Sound Quality engineering, measurement and analysis.
When developing products, the earlier in the design stage of the product sound quality is considered and implemented the better. Once a product goes to market, the cost of correcting a sound quality problem can be overwhelming even for large global brands.
Users of products listen specifically to the sounds and judge the overall product quality based on sound.
Based on the study (table below) performed by a German PC Professional magazine, Sound Quality is equally important as the robustness and overall quality of the mechanicals of the system. Simply put, sound quality is integrated and factored as 28% of the total design and feature set of the product. That is too large a percentage to ignore.

An interesting note to add is COST was not mentioned anywhere in the study.
