About Sound Quality

Project Example

ISO acoustic testing methods and standards do not address the issue of sound quality. They are standards for testing and reporting of product noise emissions. These standards are designed to ensure that everybody is testing the same way, or relatively the same way. This type of testing provides results with a single number or frequency band value that does not provide an idea of how the product will sound to a user of the product.

Depending on the standard used (and quality of the lab) you may receive a single number value in decibels (dB), bels (B) or A-weighted decibels (dBA). The values provided with the product may be sound power or sound pressure. If there is not a reference quantity for the value given in dB, then the value is virtually meaningless. These single numbers are not usable, for human feeling or perception, due to the spatial, temporal and time structure of the sound being eliminated. They do not take into account the most important person...The end user!

By developing and utilizing sound quality engineering and psychoacoustic analysis concepts, you could be ushering in a whole new sound dimension for users of your products along with the potential to increase the total quality and value of your brand image.

Helping our clients define their own product sound quality and understand the need for making their products sound better is what we do best.
